GTTAA Journey & Milestones

GTTAA is the premier association representing the travel industry and travel trade in North India. With a membership of over 200 and expanding every day in size and influence, GTTAA has emerged as the largest and most dynamic local body of travel trade operators in India.

The Travel Industries Association plays a vital role in providing a platform for Gatta. Unfortunately, some travel associations have hindered the growth of small travel agents, promoting unfair practices and misconceptions in the tourism sector—an attitude that was rare a decade ago. However, Gatta aimed to empower small travel agents and tour operators, promote tourism, and challenge such narrow perspectives. It brought together a dynamic and diverse community full of energy and purpose.

As the small ship drifted past the serene banks of Belur and Dakshin Eswar, the group’s conversation sparked a shared vision: a platform for tourism entrepreneurs that could connect the government, industry players, and everyday travelers.

By the time they docked at Outram Jetty at sunset, what had started as a simple idea had grown into the outline of a new organization for tourism business operators.

From this vision, the Global Tourism Travel Agents Association of India (GTTAA) came into being on March 7, 2019. Building on the foundations of the Domestic Tourism Club (DTC), it champions and connects tourism organizations throughout North India.

Like any organization, the GTTAA faced many challenges in its early days. Without a clear roadmap, the early years were a mix of lessons learned, small victories, and occasional setbacks.

The turning point came in 2023-2024, when a new generation of young tourism entrepreneurs joined. Their energy, combined with the experience of older members, helped make the GTTAA the leading voice in the tourism sector by 2025.

Today, the GTTAA celebrates its many achievements, yet we continue to look ahead. As a dynamic and evolving organization, we are always exploring new ideas and initiatives to connect, engage, and empower tourism industry stakeholders.

Today, the tourism industry faces challenges from every direction—security concerns, rising fuel costs, climate change, natural disasters, unemployment, and inflation. These realities make sustainability and accountability more important than ever. The GTTAA strives to be at the forefront of this movement for sustainable and responsible tourism. The world is moving in this direction, and the GTTAA wants to lead this movement not only in India, but especially in India.

In today’s tourism landscape, the rise of fraud and scams is a growing concern. Any travel agent, tour operator, or industry participant engaging in dishonest practices risks being implicated. At GTTAA, we are committed to safeguarding the integrity of the industry. To achieve this effectively, our efforts must be supported and authorized by the government. With official consent and collaboration, we can work together to create a safer, more trustworthy environment for travelers and businesses alike.
